History of Frameless

Frameless got together early 1999 quite by chance when the first three band members discovered that they had a passion to play music together. First they played alone in the privacy of their own home until they decided it would be fun to play in front of an audience.

Wolfgang VAN HOOFF played acoustic and electric guitar and provided vocals; Romeo MORUZZI played the accordeon as well as keyboards with Tracy JONES as the lead singer of the band.
We first started to perform live in front of an audience in Steinsel on the traditional Fete des Fraises in 1999. We discovered our interest to cover folk and rock music but we quickly realised that there was a need to find our own style of music.
Therefore, we started to work on our own music in early 2000. Our compositions are based on rhythm emphasising on melodies and riffs from guitar and keyboards. The lyrics are founded on realistic day-to-day events, as well as real life experience.
Eventually, our audience approached us asking for a "Frameless CD". This made us decide to record our first seven tracks CD - Mist on the Horizon in September 2000.
In 2001, we presented our new CD and continued playing gigs in and around Luxembourg. We participated in the Emergenza 2001 edition which made year 2001 become a major turning point for Frameless. We took the decision to expand.
We were busy to find the guys that would fit into the concept of Frameless and luckily our bassist Jacques SINNES had joined towards the end of 2002. Shortly afterwards, we could welcome the drummer David Gavlic to the band. We played with our new members and friends gigs early January in 2002.

Frameless became a five-piece band.
In this new line up Frameless has developed its own individuality and gave the audience a far better performance. But most importantly it gives our own music a far better feel and sound, much to our delight.
We have recorded the tracks for our CD which was released in 2003.

The year 2002 was positive for Frameless as we met many new, national and international, friends playing in other bands. We have written the song "Go and Win" for the national federation of Volleyball, which is used as a basis for our first video clip.
Of course, our musical inspiration has not been unaffected by the increased number of musicians in Frameless. This is reflected in two main areas: The music style and the way the music is written and arranged. Slowly but steadily, Frameless is moving away from being a Folk Music orientated band and is including much more rock and funk elements in our songs. The new groove has however still folk roots and this is mainly the reason why we still call ourselves a Folk Rock Band.
The song writing process on the other side has become much more a band exercise where everybody puts his idea in and the song develops from these ideas. Unfortunately we are not spending sufficient time in writing our own stuff. A lot of time still goes into our cover music set list. But we also noticed the change of the band in this area. Where we used to play a lot Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan type of music we go more for the Stones, Deep Purple and other grooving stuff in the new programme. With the 2002 Frameless line up, we increased our number of live gigs in Luxembourg and across the borders. We also have increased our contacts on a national as well as an international basis and we are hoping to enhance and strengthen these possibilities even more in the next coming months and years.
Unfortunately, we had to announce in our first newsletter in 2003 that our drummer David Gavlic left the Band in December 2002 due to other commitments and projects. This was unfortunate as we got along very well and we had a very productive time. Now we are still good friends and we wish him all the best for his future plans. Overcoming this important change in the structure of the Band, we are now glad that we found a top replacement, Patrick SCHMITT who will from now on take over the mantel to play the drums for FRAMELESS.
In 2003 we were concentrating on the new material for our 2nd CD. We set up our homepage to keep everybody posted with news and upcoming events. We participated in the Emergenza 2003 song contest. This was the 2nd participation for Frameless in this event and yet again it was good fun for everybody. Frameless line up in 2005: van Hooff, Jones, Schmitt, Sinnes, Moruzzi

The 2003 line up has proven to be the most sustainable line up in the musical history of Frameless. Many new ideas and musical inspirations resulted in a new set list. You should not miss the opportunity to come and see us at one of our gigs. 2003 was a year with a lot of private gigs and functions, so unfortunately was not accessible for everybody. That will change in the future.
For 2004 we were working on a new CD "NoWhere2Go" which we recorded with 13 tracks; full of energy and still within the Frameless concept. Please check out the discography. Unfortunately, not everything was positive in 2004 for Frameless. It was not always possible to combine our professional life with our live music. Every member of the band suffered in its own individual way, so we were unable to reach our goals for 2004.

So now to 2005, Frameless is back on track after a year that was heavily loaded with events that challenged Frameless and its existence. But we survived and are still there. In 2005 a new concept is born for our band. Jointly the band decided to concentrate on song writing and developing our own music. Sorry for all the fans of our cover songs since our new set list does not include any cover material anymore. ( PS maybe we sneak in one or two towards the end – come and check it out ). Our new set list includes songs from our first and second CD as well as our completely new songs.
We played a number of concerts mostly on private bookings and are looking to find time to record some of our new songs and hopefully we will soon be able to announce to release of our third CD.
In 2006 we achieved together some new tracks for your enjoyment. We are covering various areas of musical roots like Folk Rock, Rock, Medieval Rock, Funk Rock, Reggie a.s.o. We will record these songs on our third CD which is in the planning stage. Intensive song writing has finally paid back and made us all very happy. Further ideas are to play a UK tour later in September 2006…… to be continued.

Frameless would like to say a special thank you to all its family, friends and regular members who take the interest and time to visit our site, supporting us every step of the way and special thanks to our webmaster Claudine and our photographer Guy

Hope to see you all on one of our first gigs.

Keep on Rocking.
